I think I need to take a hiatus from Flickr for a bit. I'll still poke my head in from time to time but not nearly as much as I used to. Gotta try something different, I think.

I've got to save the ship!

Anna feared that the walls were closing in on us and tried valiantly to push the cruise ship away from the lock in the Three Gorges Dam.

She succeeded.

Everyone get cozy now

When you travel through the five-step locks in the Three Gorges Dam, you travel economically. Rather than operate the locks for just our cruise ship, they parked another cruise ship behind us (see above). Then they parked a coal barge right next to us. (Close enough that we could have jumped out of our cabin's balcony to the piles of coal a couple meters away.) Then they parked another boat behind the coal barge.

The four ships spent the next 3.5 hours slowly traversing the locks together. Since it was already midnight, however, we opted not to stay up for the whole affair.
