About Best Viewed Large

Detailed photographs rarely make appealing thumbnails. This group is for those underappreciated photos that you feel lose something in the shrinking.

Please no flooding the pool: It's in your own best interest to be selective with your submissions if you want others to take the time to click through your photos and view them large. Or, at the very least, ensure that they're a diverse bunch. No one else wants to see a dozen large-sized images of your cat in various fuzzy sweaters, no matter how cute you think they might be.

I suggest that your photos be at least 1024 pixels along one of the sides.

You must set your download permissions to allow other Flickr users to view your larger-size images (otherwise there's little point in submitting).

And submissions must be photos, not illustrations, screenshots, or digital artwork.

Linking to your large images

Here's how you can add to your photo caption a link that goes directly to the large version of your image:

Click "All Sizes" on the menu above your image. A page will open showing, by default, your large-size image. Highlight the url in your browser and copy it.

Use the following html code in your caption to create the link, replacing yoururl with the url you just copied. You can also replace "View Large" with whatever text you want hyperlinked, or else just leave it as it is:

<a href="yoururl">View Large</a>

Remember, if you don't have your download permissions set to allow other Flickr users to see your large images, the link won't work for them.
